It's like dude, we just need a break from shooting photographs... so let's do something new.
Photoshop, it's all around us... and somehow we don't see it.
What's the big deal if we melt away a few pounds with the touch of a button and the sweep of a mouse? Turns out, it could wreak havoc on the psychological well being of our society. Perhaps even worse, it might morph humans into creatures that look human at first glance, but then on closer inspection... Photoshop and the designer behind the buttons went out and created something that physically just can't exist. No wonder why there is a serious issue with realistic body image in today's society.
What we have to realize is that almost everything that the media throws at us has likely been altered in some manner. Check out this blog illustrating some of the worse Photoshop mistakes made... not the worse... some of the worse... there are bound to be more.

What does all of this have to do with the course? Well, today we're going to start looking at some of the tools that are used to create a composite photo - that's a photo made up of different visual elements... you might even begin to explore Photoshop and find some of the features used in photo-manipulation, even though we'll use them later on.
Oh, that reminds me of a YouTube video I came across a while back.

Anyway, back to the whole idea of creating a composite; below is a composite photograph that I stitched together in Photoshop. This was done with a base photograph that I had of my son, and then other images - taken from the web - of things that he likes. In total, there are seven images that have been stitched together to form this composite. See if you can spot them all.
NOW WHAT I WANT YOU TO DO:
Develop a composite in Photoshop which creatively Illustrates your personality or interests. This is an introductory task, so feel free to use web-images to stitch together a composite. You are required to make an appearance in the composite. You are also required to use at least one photo that you have taken with your own camera. Once completed - I don't expect it will be today - save it for the web, and post it on your blog; don't forget to send me a copy.
Assessment:
Due Date: Thursday, 6 March 2014
